Title: Beauty from the Beast
Post by: PorcupineFloyd on April 01, 2010, 08:12:39 AM
I haven't posted anything for a while and well... I miss those times when I had whole days only for Terragen ;-)

So here comes something typical for us, Terragen users:
Beauty (landscape) from the beast (sweating cpu)

Terrain generated in L3DT, populated with Walli's pine trees.

Postwork in Photoshop.

I rather like the landscape and clouds. The one thing I find a little offputting is the really dark sky - perhaps the result of postwork?

Yes, this dark sky is a result of tone mapping the .exr file.
I usually do so when dealing with cloudy renders in order to deal with overexposed clouds or underexposed details in the foreground. It might be a bit too much of darkening though.
