Title: Sidney Area
Post by: Henry Blewer on April 11, 2010, 03:30:32 PM
I picked up a copy of Walli's new dry grasses at NWDA. This uses two of them, plus one from his free pack. Marc Gebhart's trees and Walli's pines, and bushes are Mr. Lampposts'.

This one does not push any boundaries for me skillwise. I've been too tired from work to use the noggin effectively lately. Hope everyone likes it.

Very pastoral - nice!

Very nice, Henry. But I'd add some more variation in the grass. Some slight brownish/yellowish areas, or perhaps some leftover greens. But I like the way you seem to be 'in' the image at once, once you click your link.

This is from a scene I was doing for an aerial shot. When I purchased the grass, I wanted to se how it rendered (quite nice). So I moved the camera down close to the ground. I added the first two types in the pack first, then added one more green.
I should have restricted the grass populations, by coloring, but I was thinking an early fall field. Next render, if I can get out of the 'fog' I am experiencing.

this looks really nice,  :) - except for one of the branches on the tree, in the foreground, it does'nt look rounded enough, at least for my standards.

Reminds me of a safari.  Could be lighter.  Have you thought about running it through something like Photomatix?

I ran it through Corel Paint X. It brightened things up, but lost the contrast. Increased the contrast and lost the brightening.
Agree about the tree branch. Art is a system of pleasing flaws. (huh?)

Very nice but, for some reason the grass seems to form a pattern between the green and brown patches....don't know how you could achieve a more random pattern???
Still, a cool image!

I did not use the fractal breakup for the grasses, only a slope constraint.

This image is from a different TGD file, but they are quite similar.
