I am pretty new here, and am just seeking anyone's Terragen 2 camera advice or tips as I am starting this project. I want to create a planet with 4 camera locations ranging from outer space full shot to close up landscape. I need one smooth camera move from each location to the other 3 locations. Since keyframing a camera in T2 can be similar to hallucinating, I am creating a sphere in Maya the same size as my T2 planet but with proper units, and I figure I will make each camera move in maya, export to Chan fie, and import to T2 hoping that I can match it up.
Basically my question is does this seem reasonably possible to do, and are there any quirks I should know about with the units or T2 chan importing? any suggestions are appreciated, I'm always looking for good camera tutorials in terragen. thanks!
for what it's worth, I've decided to animate the cam directly in Terragen. When exporting a .chan file from Maya, I can adjust the scale and offset, but its still too hard to get the exact same positioning when importing to terragen. I've found by setting an orbit point and disabling free orbit mode, the cam animation does not go so haywire. Then when I set a keyframe I can usually smooth it out by deleting the previous keyframe. Man a graph editor for keyframes would be amazingly helpful, I really hope there isn't one hidden away that I'm missing...
The approach(es) you're taking seem sensible. A timeline editor is something that will be a part of the forthcoming final release of the Animation Module (currently what you're using is essentially pre-release - the final release will be a free update for you).
