Title: Buzzards (or hawks, as you wish)
Post by: Dune on April 15, 2010, 02:02:57 AM
I'm getting into modeling. Didn't know how much fun that can be (a little less than TG, mind you). I wanted some better birds to live in my environments, so I started with a gull, which needs some attention, but also did a buzzard (in the US it would be called a hawk). I tried to color it such as to be applicable in both worlds, maybe not entirely species conform, but one wouldn't use it up close anyway.
Here's a test render with one bird, three angles. I always let them fly by making a displacement power fractal, and have the flock sit on that. Then raise the Y of the initial bird object, and play with the displacement. Also play with the angle of the bird so they can soar, and circle, or dive.
If anyone is interested, it's to be found here: http://store.nwdanet.com/terragen2store/13-objects/25-other-objects.html

ps. The maps can always be altered to get a different coloration.

Awesome hawks, it will not be long before you get into rigging for animation.

Yeah, great hawks! I like your clouds too. How did you make the hawks?
