Title: Compute Terrain on objects in populations
Post by: commorancy on April 20, 2010, 12:19:53 AM
While the compute terrain function works great to populate over a terrain, it doesn't modify the the object being populated to also conform to the terrain.  Instead, the object always points directly upward within the population.  I'd like to have a preference to allow the object itself to also rotate to confirm to the shape of the terrain also.  If there is a way to do this today, please let me know (perhaps through a function).  Although, it would be preferable to have a checkbox on the population itself for the object to also conform to the terrain rather than having to apply a separate function later.  That's assuming a function is even possible for rotation of the populated objects.

See the attached image for how populations work now.

Thanks.

Correct, objects do not currently rotate to match the terrain normal. This should be an option, but is not yet available.

Thanks for the info and it's what I suspected.  I look forward to this feature being added to an upcoming release.
