Title: Rocky Desert
Post by: old_blaggard on March 04, 2007, 11:03:52 PM
This is the first presentable image I've made in a while.  Let me know what you think about it ;).

I really like the terrain - seems very interesting - like I'd like to see more :-)

I like the plants and the how the terrain is marked.  I'm assuming you did something to the terrain to make it have the ridges, etc.  Did you use TG2 for the terrain or create it some other way?  The ground is very red, which I've seen before.  Well detailed and good sun placement.  Something about the rocks in the foreground look out of place...or plastic-like.  Maybe some sort of scuffs, dirty, grungy can be applied to those.

I agree with this, although I think the rocks in the sunlight look OK - it's just the ones in the shadows that look suspicious...

Thanks for the comments, folks.  I agree that the rocks could have used a little more work, but time was running short and the render you see took 40 hours at 1000*750, so... I wasn't too keen on doing it again.  The terrain was made entirely in the Tech Preview - in fact, it's available on Ashundar.com as the base terrain of IotW 62 - if any of you want to enter, feel free ;).
