No, not weed. These objects are supposed to be pretty good, but I wonder if anyone here has tried importing them into TG2. Not that we need to. Just wondering.

I've imported grass and other plant objects exported from Maya without a problem. I can't say I've purchased any grass though :)
I'm not sure that I'd buy grass. There are plenty of free models online and you can always make your own: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=769.0 (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=769.0)
And a bit of surfacing goes a long way: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=933.0 (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=933.0)
And if you want similar grass and free try this http://3dplants.0catch.com/download.html
im somewhat high or something i actually read it as Real Glass =/
Costaud, thanks for the great link!

Hey that link is EXCELLENT - the veg looks fabulous!! Can anyone tell me which format one should download?
This is true and your assistance is great in this area. I wasn't intimating that we could do better; just different.

I'm not sure about that one...
Quite possibly. I've used these in all of my "grassy" posts

Apologies if I seemd a little too cynical (I can do that from time to time, but it wasn't intended here).
Choice is always good too :)
If you download the the 3ds files of these, here is some advice on using Poseray to convert them to stable obj which will open and render with out crashing, I just copied it from my other post if it sounds familiar, "Poseray does a great job of converting 3ds files to obj, which open and render without crashes, BUT, you have to make 2 changes in Poseray's groups tab, under the faces, vertices and normals tab, first click Drop y = 0, and then to the right of that under scale and rotation reference point click origin, then all that needs to be done is click the green check mark to update the file before exporting as an object.
If you don't do this all the objects, or at least the ones I have experimented with, will be about half submerged in the surface.

I tried opening the 3ds files in Wings 3D, and nothing appears. The files are quite old and will need some polishing up I guess...
I used Poseray for my conversions. It seems to give the most stable obj files of the methods I've used so far (Blender and Wings) and IMO is simpler to use for just straight conversion purposes. Also note the tip above ;)

Yep that one - well I don't have Poseray so won't download those beauties. They sure were nice tho!
Twistednoodle PoseRay is free and easy to use http://mysite.verizon.net/sfg0000/

And one small addition. If your imported object in TG is lying on its side, in the OBJ options in TG uncheck the "Source Z up" box. Here's a quick and dirty reworking of a 3DS from http://3dplants.0catch.com/download.html

Oh that looks great - a lot of potential there! You guys really have a handle on this and other software, the conversations here are very interesting and it makes me realise how little I know! Keep up the good work, the input in this forum has been extremely beneficial to all of us.
Wish list: long prairie grass or wheat in a golden colour .... Xfrog have a beauty on their Grasses CD which is a titch expensive for me ... if anyone has something like this as an obj or tgo I would be ETERNALLY grateful! ;D
Here are some wheats made with Arbaro. http://www.sharebigfile.com/file/103740/Wheat-zip.html (http://www.sharebigfile.com/file/103740/Wheat-zip.html)
I might as well throw some of my goodies in here as well.
Tall grassy plants i had custom made with some texture maps. :)

Thanks for sharing, guys.
No problem. :)
Hi there guys. Many thanks for sharing. Am I the only one who cant get anything from www.sharebigfile.com to work. I put in the 3 digit security code and wait for the countdown to reach "Download File" and click on the button and...... nothing happens. I've tried it in Opera and IE 7 (spits on floor) and both do the same. If anyone is interested I'll more than happily host the files on my site.
If you're interested just email me the files (as they're both small) to miles(thispartisrubbish)@gintdev.co.uk (removing"(thispartisrubbish)" of course, no spam for me :) ) and I'll upload them and post the link in this thread.
Nope can't download either :'( just get a 404 error. Costaud & Sethren please consider sending the files to Mr-miley so we can download them.
Cheers
If a permanent download is established, would it be OK if I put them on Ashundar's list of models?
I can download the files just fine using Firefox 2 but who knows what is wrong. ???
Anyhow, i am now uploading the zip to mr-miley as i type this. ;D
Strange, just tried with Firefox and get.....
Not Found
The requested URL /getfile.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
.....error message.
Yes you're right I can't download the files I don't know why.
I uploaded the wheat at the more friendler (and easy to use) Meltingice site. http://www.designpaths.com/forums/attachments.php?attachmentid=25&sid= (http://www.designpaths.com/forums/attachments.php?attachmentid=25&sid=)
Wheat! What a legend!! (Please receive eternal gratefullness as promised) Mwah! THanks guys for making the effort and sharing your stuff.
I've been mucking around with cumulous for about a week now and I think I've cracked it - my brain that is!! My cauliflowers still suck! I can't wait till the new version of TG comes out (I'll be uploading the "Interface for Dorks" and not the "I'm a Total Legend" interface (wonders if she'll get a choice ;) )
Anyhoo thanks again!
Just to let you know I have uploaded the zip file to my site.
It can be found here http://www.gintdev.co.uk/mr-miley/tgos.html (http://www.gintdev.co.uk/mr-miley/tgos.html)
I have also TGO'd the OBJs. A zip file containing theses files is on the same page. Don't forget you will have to re-attach the .png files in the multishader cause the will be on a different path on your computer.
I have some grasses I found on the net that I have already TGO'd and I shall try to post these on the same page later today.
Hope this is of some use. By the way, if anyone needs to dump files up on the net for this group to download, I'll more than happily dump them on my site if you don't have anywhere to host them yourself. just send the files to miles(removethisbit)@gintdev.co.uk
Miles
Thanks for sharing all of those.
Thank you mr-miley for uploading these so that others may use them. You help is most appreciated. :)
Not a problem. I've got plenty of space up there, so I may as well put it too some good use ;D
As I said, anyone want anything else hosted, give me a shout
Thanks, Sethren. Looks like more stuff to do yet. :o

Sharebigfile is now up and running - I can't wait to try the grasses. I really need to practise getting the colour and transparency right! Thanks for your help guys!
Thanx so much for sharing....
I really love to play around with different grass ....
Aenea
Let's not get too carried away here - the T2TP grass is good enough for many purposes.
