All models by me, using ng-plant and blender for conversion.

I wonder how much surfacing could be done without "breaking" the models.
For now I am going to play around a little more with different individuals of one type of "plant"
C&C are welcome,

Woah! Ridiculous!
I like the tall purple hairy things. :D
strange indeed!
i like those strange mushroom like plants in the background.

just dont eat them :)
you'll regret it, like i did :D ;D
These are ...spacey! A bit reminiscent of Spore. Cool stuff!
Take care not to be eaten!
Glad you liked some of my creatures, fearing them would also have been ok.
Laughing is even better!
I have to admit that I secretly hoped for a "ridonkulous", but maybe I have to work somewhat harder for that.
Only problem is, I´am running out of ram faster than ideas, not to mention populations (free version)

I'll put them on a plate first!!!! :D
do you plan on sharing these objects (creatures) ?
i particularly like the ones in the background.
Hello Zaai,
Im glad you like my "creations".
I didn´t plan on sharing them until now, most of all because I didn´t look into the specifications of the program, but I think there should be no problem.
The objects as I use them are quite big files.
They are made with ngplant, which is a great little program, opensource as I just found out.
ngplant.sourceforge.net/
It is also capable of much more realistic plants.
You create an .ngp file that can be varied using seeds (or simply changing the length of the main trunk as with the different purple hairy things).
The program exports to .obj-files, wich work better after being im-and exportet with blender.
I also increased the resolution in blender, which results in much better and bigger files.
I could send you the .ngp, which are small like .tgd files if you are comfortable with blender and willing to look a bit into ngplant. Or I send you the small unsmoothened obj.
Just give me credits if you use it.
One thing I have to tell: I used the "mushrooms"in the background because there are some spots where the small mushrooms intersect the big ones. Why not, but maybe for upclose shots you would want to change that.
Best Regards. Jan
The most colorful image I've seen here ...now that's creativity!
Thanks choronr !
At first, and maybe still, the colours where meant to be just placeholders for more sophisticated and subtle surface shaders.
But I liked the outcome, so I posted it.
I don´t know how much displacement is possible on an objekt, but maybe I try at least to break up the colours.
Maybe after my exam in october, until then only some wips to relax.
Best Regards,
Jan
Very inspiring, creative picture, I like it a lot, especially the unusual-yet-familiar plants :)
