Title: First TG2 Render, need help with a few adjustments.
Post by: GFB on May 21, 2010, 07:45:48 PM
Here it is. :) The first one was just a crippled attempt to texture a meadow and mountain. The next one was to improve the grass texture. You can find the tutorial here: http://sites.google.com/site/stonefingeriiii/t2grasstutorial. It didn't give the results as in the tutorial photo but I am happy with the results.
There is only two problems I need to work out until I will be satisfied with it: the mountains look like wet sugar and the noise on the terrain (very noticeable to the left side). I found a tutorial on getting good rendering times and good quality in these forums but I cant find them again. As for the mountains I would like a grayish color, but I want it to look more like rock than clay. :D It doesn't matter If I have to delete all the shaders I used to make the grass (and what was supposed to be rock). If you could help me out with either of these that would be great.

These are not bad. They need work, but for the first few images you have done well. I would head to the file sharing section. Download a couple TGD files from people who's work you admire. Browse through these in T2 to see how things look. (I have uploaded a few files. I keep things simple, and don't go into renaming the shaders and things.)

Nice use of the shadows from the clouds on the terrain.  Looks better or equivalent to anything I have done, you are on the right path.
