I dug out my old caustics file from dandelO's Public Library - vol.1, last night after reading a post in TG2 discussion which drew my attention back to it and the possible uses some folk might need it for.
This is the basic render of the example scene with the new reworked settings.
Render settings:
Detail = 1
AA = 3, Mitchell-Netravali (non-adaptive sampling)
GI Relative detail = 3, sample quality = 12, blur 6. Stop reading... Now. (don't be alarmed, there's no sky, it's quick BUG! TURN THAT GI DOWN NOW!) Commence reading... Now.(Don't be alarmed, there's no atmosphere at all, it's quick! ;))

*EDIT* Inserted link.
Now this is giving me some ideas for the next project. Thank you, I will be trying the caustics - most generous of you!
Cheers, Bob. Make sure to use the updated ones(v.3). :)
Thank you very much, looks great! :)

Just an update with the new caustics layer v.3. and my 'sandelO' shader. :)
Cheers. folks!
There is just one word, wow! This water looks very real. Nice work.
Cheers, Henry! :)
dandelO you the mandelO many thanks, will check these out
are those oil blobs? :(
Great stuff, how fast does it render?
Nice effective trick you've found there.
Otakar: No, fish!(the water is a bit too rough to see them correctly) :D And, it really doesn't take much(if any) longer to render than a basic, empty surface layer. It's only a little colour pattern fed into the main surface layer's luminosity channel.
Cheers, Hetzen! :)
