For me, as I use the free version, if I think TG2 could use some improvements, it could probably be fixed by registering ... :) Does anyone out there who uses Terragen 2 think it could use improvements?
If you think that TG2's just fine you can express yourself in that opinion as well.
Better user interface and tools for placing objects. TG really needs some ease of use tools to remove the burden of placing everything thing by hand. A simple free rotate, scale, and position (with less fussy axis arrows. Does this annoy anyone else?) would help immensely. Even if that was just done to objects it would be ok. the ability to rotate planes and populations would be nice too.Other than that tg is on the right track.
I would like an automatic exposure toggle. ;D ::) Since I forget to use the camera exposure adjustment...
the most obvious one is speed of rendering, then more frequent updates, sss, improved documentation, true transparency, a better colour picker, better object placement and visualization pre render, drop to floor faciity for starters.
By the way this topic should be in terragen 2 discussion not open discussion.

Object Population has an Area Rotation parameter.

ok... wasn't sure what it should go in.
Hi, just wanted to say that there is already a large thread about wanted features for new version of Terragen.

Edit: Sorry just realised Kadri beat me to it.

Henry, at the left of the 3D-preview window, there's an easy-access exposure slider for the camera settings(a vertical bar with '+/-' buttons). Maybe you just mean you'd like it actually done automatically, though, for best results and you know this already. ;) I don't know.
I on very rare occasions have used the camera controls for the preview window. I find it easier to 'drive' around using just the mouse.
I didn't know you could "drive" using the mouse controls! I usually use the camera controls.
I never use the exposure slider in the preview window, I just thought it would be a good idea to mention that there is one there, too. ;)
I like the input fields, where I can enter my own values, rather than the graphical input ones.
I do use the 3D preview nav-panel, along with the mouse-look method, though.

I don't use the exposure slider either, but maybe because I didn't know there was one :D
jbest, there are many aspects of this program that probably never get used much. I barely have scratched what an be done with it. There is a lot of power available, it's just learning how and what to use it for.
Hey you know what, I've probably used so little of TG2 that if I thought there was a problem with it it's probably because I don't know enough about it. I learn more everyday but one thing I don't know about at all is functions, though I've heard and seen they're useful. To me they seem like .. uh ... finding a needle in a haystack.
Functions are the most useful and frustrating things I have tried. It is important to use the correct GET function for the setup you are working with. Here is a link which may help.

Thanks for that njeneb - I don't think I have seen that before

I agree with you njeneb, but you're better than me since I haven't tried them at all! If I learn enough about Terragen 2 I'll try ...
There are many things that can be done using the Redirect shader, Power fractals, and the distribution shader. If you learn to use these well, you can do some wild looking renders.

I definitely know the power of Power Fractals, but I don't know what the Redirect Shader is and I don't know how to use the distribution shader. :-[
I think Terragen 2 should have an autosave, like Microsoft Word.
It does.
what about a button 9?
;D

Haha, the button that does nothing? (Like in Terragen 0.9)

What, it does? I didn't know that!
Njeneb, you said that Terragen 2 has an autosave! How do you do that?
It does not auto save, to the best of my knowledge. Only thing you can do is have TG2 save incrementally on each save.

That's what I meant.
Oh, sorry :D Then I guess that still stands.
But, I never have used this. It may just be for various versions of a tgd.
Oceans available on the Water tab. An ocean would simply be a sphere with a water shader but instead of being in with the objects it would be in with water. It could really help the newbs make oceans without much prior knowledge and it would probably also help the rest of the users a bit because then we wouldn't have to add the water shader manually. ;)
changeable bounding box colors, it would be helpful to change the color of unselected / selected BB's
(like when you have the painted shader on and you cant see a *%)#)$' bounding box when you painted the whole terrain white :D)
I know it's stupid, but maybe the ability to do rain on TG2?
possibly, i think dandelO achieved a snow effect with TG2
