Thanks for sharing Vyache. Very impresive shape. 8)

Looking at "nodes.jpg", I would like to point out that there is no reference to altitude on your heightfield mask. What it is doing is masking the sides, not the tops.

To be complete, and maybe get you to look at other methods, you could technically draw a shape on the planet surface other than a heightfield rectangle, and use that for your main fractal mask. There is no need to use a compute terrain in this set up. You can then use a warp shader on that mask to get over hangs on the sides....
