Title: Planet wide oceans
Post by: Vortex on August 31, 2011, 04:03:55 PM
Hello all, great to be hear!

Ive been fiddling around with Terragen and got some beautiful reults.

My main goal is to create planets viewed from space.

Im currently trying to create an earth like planet but i cant figure out for the life of me how to do continents, also how do you create a planet wide ocean the only thing i have done is create a shader with a blue color which covers a % of the terrian based on altitude...

Is that the right way to go about create a planet wide ocean?

ANyway thanks for any help in advance :D

Continents are usually made with a PF scaled to about 3e+006. Planetary oceans are made with a sphere located at -6.378e+006 with a radius of 6.378e+006, set to not cast shadows and use a water shader as a surface shader.
