im not sure yet badger... need to fiddle around with the setting more

kadri: im not sure how long exactly it took to render, must have been at least 5 hours or less, started it around 12am & when i woke up this morning, a little after 6am it was complete
not bad, faster than a TG2 animation ;)

the late night animation sequence did'nt turn out so well... im not sure why, need to check the settings
i think im going to do a animation of my "the buildings don't care" parameter, but first do some short sequences to see how it plays.

I'm really going to have to get into this when I have more time. That is a very cool animation zaai-three-nine! I can think of a ton of stuff I want to do because of it. Thanks for pursuing this in the open.

Title: new animation coming soon
Post by: Zairyn Arsyn on March 09, 2012, 08:52:26 PM
thanks for the comments guys :)

this program is kinda addicting... and making these videos is fun, fast too.

i am working on a fourth animation... this one will be longer - it is set to match the length of song, (4:57 to be exact), it will transition into to different variations fractal formula at certain parts of the song.

currently i have made the first 27secs.

its a Menger3 sponge, or thats what mandelbulb3D calls it.

actually what i did was added a couple extra functions, rotateC, rotate, scale, changed some parameters for the desired results.

ahh..some sort of rotated menger/mandelbox hybrid then, perhaps....?? :)
any how, looks great!
:)

yeah something like that, you can add a total of 6 fractals/functions that you combine, some of the menger params. were already rotated previously, i just added more rotate functions and stuff to make it look less recognizable

there was a bit of animation footage left out, i had made like 9 or 8 different videos which i combined for the final piece.

i got a used alienware laptop from a friend for $150
& i've been away from my main computer for a few days so i decided to start using mandelbulb 3D again to let out my creative side.
i also bought a used EVGA Geforce 570 classified with a water block cooler.

ive been using my new alienware laptop more for mandelbulbing than gaming...
mainly cause of skyrim, i use my main system for that, this alienware couldnt handle skyrim that well.

some of these are very high res...

Good stuff!  Brings back memories of some older days when I was using Fractint a lot.  Of course it was all 2D with color cycling.  And the old Compuserve forum, connected through my Hayes 1200 baud modem.

We've come a long ways! :o

mandelbulb 3D is a great program, it has a good 3D preview system and it renders faster than terragen or Mandelbulber, but there are so many functions and fractals available to use that its overwhelming.

lately i have been messing with a function that simply makes a sphere, and combining it with other fractals and stuff to get weird creations
