Wow! I'll give five bucks to whomever can imitate those clouds in TG2 :P.
Thanks, Sethren. Magnificent and somehow satisfying.
wonderful clouds. Love it!
since its on NASA website...I am guessing that this is a real picture...
if it is real...then what planet is it in the background (moon?) and why is it so big??
100% Real! ;D
Objects always appear larger then they actually are when they are very low in the horizon.

I believe in this case it's actually because the shot was taken with a telephoto lens, so the field of view is smaller than we would see with the unaided eye and thus everything appears larger. You'll notice that the moon seems of reasonable size as compared to the minimal curve of the Earth you can see there - in other words it's a rather zoomed-in shot.

That makes more sense after i looked at the photo a second time. ;D
Yep. ;D This is the same way they get those *giant* moons/suns in movies (when they're not CG). A great example is the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It's also why they seem to ride off into the distance *forever*. ;)

ET might be another good example when Elliot is flying his bike across the large moon.
You do know he isn't actually flying ;)
That was probably postwork to make sure it looked good.
Nah, i am still waiting for cows to fly or is it pigs? ;D
