Title: Going to Antarctica
Post by: MF_Erwan on November 30, 2012, 04:07:12 AM
For the moment I am waiting for the 2nd plane in Hong-Kong, but I will soon be in Antarctica, in Terre Adelie, Dumont d'Urville station. I will be working for Meteo-France (french meteorology service). I will write a blog at:

Hi Erwan,

I'm quite jealous :-). I hope you have a great time. I quite often see the US Antarctic planes being loaded at Christchurch airport in NZ and have considered hopping the fence and stowing away!

Regards,

Jo

Hi there,
The adventure has begun!
I have put a first message on my blog. In french since I'm french, but, wait, I will try to translate when I'll have some time.
Internet here is damn slow, 256kbps only!

During my free time I will continue playing with Terragen, but I won't be able to download terrain data...

I was envious at first. But you have been there so long. LOnger than a midwest winter, and that is too much winter for me. Right now I am envious of people who live where there are palm trees and girls in string bikinis everywhere. If you see anything like this in Antarctica, please let me know: http://www.brazil-carnival.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/amazing-brazilian-girls-in-hot-tiny-bikini-on-the-beach-31-hq2.jpg

Cool videos of Antarctica though!

love the fisheye photos - what lens/camera didi you use?
Title: Re: Going to Antarctica
Post by: MF_Erwan on September 28, 2013, 05:19:04 AM
No fisheye lens used here, I used a 18mm lens and put all the 50 images together with the "Microsoft ICE" freeware. I obtained a cylindrical projection. Then I used Photoshop to transform into a polar view.
The camera is a Canon 1100D.
