Title: Cloud Animation
Post by: scrambled2 on February 12, 2013, 02:29:32 PM
I was looking to create a looping cloud animation. Essentially I just want the clouds to 'roil' and slowly adjust themselves in place for a few seconds before arriving back where they started.
If this was a 2D fractal noise in AE or Nuke I would adjust evolution or otherwise. Would one adjust Density Fractal Seed to a cloud layer or what parameter would you adjust over time to gain this sort of cloud evolution? Thanks in advance.

I don't think it can be done at the moment quite in the manor your describing.
The simplest way is just to animate the cloud fractal via a transform node in the Y axis. That is all I have done in The Island ~ Light and Shadow (http://vimeo.com/34682546).
If you want it to come back to the start point (after a few seconds !?) so you can create a continual loop I don't thing that is possible at the moment.
Cheers

I think it might be possible if you combine tileable image mask into the animation. Dont have time to think this further but I think its possible. Animate the image and keep the fractal still.
