Saw this on Facebook.I don't like this kind of sales but it is tempting.
"Download key will be emailed when the sales goal has been met.
If the sales goal is not reached by Dec 19 2014, ALL ORDERS WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL."
http://my3dtools.net/
Looks like they already have about 70% but only 11 more days to go. I guess the sale closes once they reach their sales goal so it will be too late if you wait until it is a sure thing (?).
Not sure Pablo. But for that price it looks very very cheap.
There are some models there that do look much more expensive then the total price.
I just made the sales bar go up a hair. 250MB is not too bad. It won't even halfway fill up a CD.
.lwo only? :-[
I would really like to get them. The warthog in particular would be useful to me pretty soon. Don't have LW and not prepared to deal with converting though.
Agree with Kadri that these look much more costly than they are charging.
All you have to do is run them thru Poseray, convert to .obj. You don't need Lightwave. ;D

We really need an emotive smiley face thing where he is pulling his hair out.
There is no pose ray for me Yossam. This miracle software you all use is a different religion from mine, and it does not let in outsiders. ;)

? :)
lol. Thanks, yeah I know about it. Thats way too much trouble Kadri. Way way way too much. I'll just go on feeling left out. As a mac user I am used to it and need it to feel important ;D
Why don't we all just pool $5 together? ::)
Too bad I'm not into sci-fi. Otherwise I'd buy, no doubt.
The site is extremely slow-loading and is timing out on me. You sure this is not just a collection of models found elsewhere for free? :)
Everything is possible on the net you know :)
But we had heard something since now if there was a suspicious thing probably.
It doesn't open for me too now.
So maybe it's a hoax! Often deals that seem too good to be true, aren't.
I bought i think Messiah in the same way for 40 $ (was more then 200-300 i think normally)
What i learned from that sale was is that you can buy some things for very few bucks but end still paying too much.
It is a good program but i opened that program probably only 1 or 2 times.
Now i buy only things i really will use only and not because it is cheap.
And yeah i knew that before too but... ;)
The page works now. The bar have moved a little too.
http://my3dtools.net/faq.html
I think i will still buy those objects.
By the way , i wasn't aware before, there is a free to download model to see and test.
http://my3dtools.net/free.html
Edit: Tested just one part of the free object. Exported from Lightwave as an OBJ file.Opened and exported from Poseray.
Looks good.
Sure looks good. Is that just the part you get? It's only a week and he's met only 70% of his goal. I think I'll wait until one of the last days and see what happens, but I guess a lot of folks do that. Tempted but 90% I wouldn't use in the near future, maybe even 100%. On the other hand 35 bucks is nothing. Sigh.
It is a full model divided into sections Ulco. This is only one section.
I am waiting too by the way.
But really i wish the goal is reached even if i only use one model it would be still cheap looking at the quality of this model.
Great, I downloaded it. Actually, this was the one I was interested in most ;)
:D
But I might still persuede myself ::)
Such a set might be good to use parts from different models to make some new models too.
I use this method all the time because i don't like modeling.
That was exactly my thought when reviewing the models.
:)
Great! Kit bashing like in the old Star Wars times. This time digitally.
http://www.ketzer.com/MF_making7.html
Couldn't resist and bought the stuff (hopefully!). One week left...
Yes Hannes i always remember those.
30-40 years ago i wanted to make movies with models. Missed that opportunity :D
I once made a (crappy) model like this using several model kits. I took this picture of my model prabably around 1980.
Nice. Holding that models in your hand does have still quite another feeling then digital ones :)
Tested the free model,too.
If all of the models are like that you should be aware of some things.
The models have the usual Lightwave issues,so you need poseray to
fix the tesselation problems.
You need a modeler to align the model parts,'cause most parts are not
aligned. Some parts have to be copied aswell to get a full model.
You will most likely have some mapping problems on some models,
because of LW's mapping.(Heavy use of multiple masks, levels)
And you will have to load some images manually, despite of poseray.
Depending on the amount of shaders you'll have to perform a good
deal of tuning parameters in TG.
Nonetheless they seem to be good models...for use in Lightwave that is.
Just saying.
Thanks for letting us know. I noticed that LW9 doesn't open the scene file where the train is combined, so that has to be done by hand in modeler, and indeed I had my mind going over the tedious task to combine meshes and maps in there. LW 11 might do it all automatically though.
Converting objects isn't always a smooth task. No matter what format or software.
Not sure if you know it but for batch converting or merging even Poseray does have those options directly from LWO to OBJ.
And we could help each other too if needed.
At least it isn't a format like MAX that you need absolutely 3DSMax.
Even then you could use the trial versions that most software has.
You are right Kadri and I didn't want to belittle the models.
Just wanted to make anyone aware that it wouldn't be a
one button press and it works flawless in TG thing.
I wrote it in a general speaking way actually.
But it looks so as it was directed only to you really when i read it ones more :)
It would be really nice if he had at least an OBJ version of each model really.
Only one more day. I don't think they will make their goal. The charge did show up on my credit card.
Had some stupid problems with Paypal.
When using the credit card number and address and such isn't enough and you have to use a new account etc. it gets too cumbersome.
I am passing this one. I hope the goal will be reached and you enjoy the models guys.
Made hesitatingly a second account (that was easier to do) at Paypal and bought the objects.
Well ready to see what happens is more correct i think :)
The charge was on my card statement as well. Right now it's a big question mark. ???
Yeah i had give up as you see in my post above, but seeing it here and there and looking at the nice models ones again i made an u-turn.
:(

Too bad for everybody. I wonder what his goal was? If it's 1000 sales he'd make 35,000 dollars, not bad.
Well at least if your money is back on your cards, then you know they are honest brokers and you can trust them in the future.
My account was credited about midnight last night.............shame it didn't succeed. :'(
Mine too. I just caught a guy peeing on my front porch. I knocked on the window and he turn and smiled at me with a couple missing teeth. I shook my finger at him and he hobbled off. Go figure... :o
pfff, that happens all the time when you live near campus. Glad as hell I dont live by my or any other school anymore. Glad you guys got your doe back.
One more try.
http://my3dtools.net/
This time he wrote how many orders he wants at least.
But read carefully. The conditions are different this time.
But the bar is nearing the end very fast this time and the money he asks isn't much to think about.
Your mileage may vary of course.
Why not............ ;D
Bought it ones again :)
Do these have to be converted, or can I use as .obj files, with textures in T3? ::)
They are in Lighwave format the last time i checked. You have to convert them.
Thanks. It looks like quite the deal!

I did too. No mention of KickStarter this time. With a price of $5 lower than before and only 300 target sales instead of 500, it should go this time.
Almost there guys and girls. Hurry up if you want them.
Just purchased them too, despite the low euro (we're in for disaster :( ).

You mean you don't believe Draghi when he says unaffordability and high prices are good things? :o You should have bought gold (or some francs). ;)
I don't think I do, and I'm afraid we'll be working for the southern countries for decades to come. They should do something about their corruption, but that is the only thing I'll say about it. I'm not very politically engaged, and know only half (probably).
Goal Accomplished!
"Limited time!
The price will increase to $39.95 in one week!
Download links will be going out today for all pre orders.
Please allow 24 hours"
I hope there won't be any problems.
Well, just in time then... now lets wait whether it's a hoax or not ;)
Got mine...............now to check them out. ;D
Hmm...i have mixed feelings about this. It looks like the most detailed object was the one he offered for free.
Some of the maps are in .iff format.............. ::)
Converting them isn't so much a problem but most detailed parts are bump maps on the objects.
I expected a little more especially after i saw the free object. Still for the money they are good.
Quote from: yossam on January 26, 2015, 03:47:23 PMSome of the maps are in .iff format.............. ::)
Never heard of it myself.
I'm downloading now. You have to consider that models are not highly detailed just because they were used in high-profile movies. The level of detail depends on how close the camera gets to them. But the renders on the website do look pretty good.

...
It is an old file format that i saw 15-20 years ago much more.
I've been looking at some of the models and I think they're going to need some work before they will be very useful. Geometry is good but texture images not that great. Of what I've seen so far, none of models have the various parts of their geometry in layers but, instead, various parts are in their own files and have to be combined. For example, the B17 has only one prop in its own file. It needs to be imported into its own layer, replicated into four and then each placed where it needs to go. Then the pivots will have to be set. Not an awful lot of work but has to be done.
Load only the scene file and save the objects transformed and it is done(mostly) Pablo.
I think there were scripts-plugins too for saving objects in different layers as one object.

Thanks, Kadri. Seems like I learn something new every day.
