It's definitely a development I'll be watching closely. I've wanted this since I saw it in Iron Man.
Turn off the live optic background and you seem to have all of the functionality of the Occulus Rift. I am presuming that the visor is wireless and the video feed has to come from a computer somewhere on the net while it feeds position and orientation data back to the compute engine. It looks like the functionality of "Simulcam" developed for making Avatar will soon be available at low cost to the general public (in the form of a new product).
Crazy.
Hard to believe this is coming anytime soon. :o

I had to edit my post because I didn't mean to imply that the very same Simulcam would become very cheap. I just meant that other vendors seem to be developing such technology for sale at very affordable prices.
