Starting setup for my entry (if I manage to finish something I like), mainly to find a base landscape to start from. Is the 2:1 image size ratio mandatory or one can make also a 3:1?

3:1 wouldn't work, why would you want that?
I confess my utter ignorance about VR images, though I swear I saw images like 4000x2800 or something not exactly 2:1 ratio.
We can accept images that are a little bit taller than 2:1, such as 3:2 or even 4:3. But 3:1 is not a good choice.
