Title: Yellow Green Render
Post by: AP on September 15, 2016, 12:04:20 AM
Has this happened to anyone else here? I suspect it may have something to do with the GI. I may have to send the tgd file over to Planetside as this is based on a personal project.

This has only happened to me with unclamped values hidden in power fractals somewhere in the setup.

In this case it was due to high "extreme" values in Easy Cloud. Not sure if it's expected/known, so I'll be chatting with Matt about it. In the meantime avoid using Coverage values above the slider max of 1.6.

Using extreme values in the Beta, I never once encountered this issue. Currently setting the values to 1.6 and it still appears yellow green.

It will if the Growth is also very high (1 or greater), which I realize it is by default in some presets.

Saying you never encountered it in the Beta is definitely interesting, but as a generalization it may not be very helpful, unless you tried the exact same settings in the Beta. Strangely, copying your problematic cloud node into a new project file does not reproduce the issue (in the final release), so there must be some other combination of settings that is contributing to it. Which might explain why you didn't see it in the Beta. I'll look into it further.

It appears to be in the Gamma correction in the Render node. It was set to 1.8, set it to 2.2 and the render was back to looking normal. The Contrast also may be involved possibly.

It's probably not the gamma, most likely some other change you made that you thought was unrelated. Simply changing the render resolution in your original scene will get rid of the yellow issue, so you could easily have changed something else that affected it.

It seems to be a little more complex than I thought, but what I can say is that copying the cloud node *alone* from your project into another one will reproduce it. So it does seem to be mostly related to the cloud settings. The issue does not reproduce itself in all circumstances, i.e. different render resolutions, details, or whatever, but I haven't seen it at all without that cloud node and its relatively high settings. So I'm pretty sure that's still the culprit one way or another.

Yes, I figured that after thinking over it more, some additional testing. In the meantime, I will just have to be wary of what is done with settings.

Yes, but mainly in the new v3 clouds. ;) That's the main point I want to get across, that you don't need to generally worry about *any* setting, e.g. Gamma or other simple things. The new clouds do still need some further testing and tuning, so it's not surprising to me that they are creating or contributing significantly to this issue.

Correct.   :)

To continue. When the GPU preview is at 10% the image looks normal but at 20% the image changes to yellow green. Using the RTP, the image looks normal the entire time.

In the GPU preview, the issue begins at 10% at times.

Different project and now it is a purple tint and again switching to AO, the tint disappears.

Can you send us this latest project file where the purple color appears?

Also, are you using any similar or copied shader networks, TGDs, or other setups between these files?

Yes, I will send the TGD over soon.

That would be a no.

Thanks. Strange because no one else is reporting these issues, so I though it may be due to some particular setup (or setting) you keep using. Hopefully we can find a commonality in the files you sent us.

I agree, it is strange and my workflow has never changed even before the Beta.
