Title: Movement of nodes in TG4 (Network) view on the MAC
Post by: Shield Wulf on September 22, 2016, 03:04:58 PM
I seem to have a problem selecting and moving a group of nodes in the network view on my Mac where it worked fine in TG3. I have updated to the latest CUDA drivers and the problem persists. Please help.  Any files I can send into you all please let me know. This makes it almost useless for me to try and use TG4 on my Mac. On windows TG4 selection of group of nodes seems to work just like it did with TG3.

Please help......

I rechecked again and the network view in TG4 is useless to me on my MAC. TG3 works as advertised. Selection of nodes, moment of nodes, creating links between nodes all still work in TG3. I can't believe this made it passed QA.  Anyone else having this problem. My MAC is the latest version OS and the CUDA is the latest from their app in the preferences....

So far we're unable to reproduce this issue. Is your Mac a "Retina"-type model, or a high resolution iMac? We're wondering if this is an issue with high DPI displays. I believe you can test this by dragging out a marquee (rectangular selection) in the node network and seeing if it's offset from the mouse position. If you can test that and let us know the result it would be very helpful.

Additionally, if that does not appear to be the problem, you can try resetting your Custom Bindings and/or deleting the preferences file. To reset bindings, go to Preferences - > Input Settings, and if you have customized the bindings at all, you'll have the Reset Custom Bindings option available. If that doesn't help, you can try renaming the Preferences file, which will reset preferences. On a Mac preferences should be in Your user folder -> Library -> Preferences -> uk.co.planetside.Terragen_4.plist Just rename that file then restart TG and see if the issue persists.

Hi Oshyan,

Thanks for the reply. I will try  your suggestion within the next day or so. My Mac is a standard IMac nothing special about it. Not Retina (I wish) but I do try to keep the software that is on it up to date as you have heard me say before. I'll try your suggestions and get back to you tomorrow. It is interesting though why this problem only happens with TG4. TG3 is fine in this respect.   mmmmmm.....

Hi Oshyan,

I tried the rectangle in the network node area and the mouse is dead on at the lower right part of the rectangle when I drag the mouse in it. I will try the other suggestions tomorrow.

Thanks, for your help...

Hi Randy,

To get into your Library folder to find the preferences file you may need to do this:

Go to the Finder
Click on the "Go" menu and choose "Go to Folder..."
When the window opens up with the "Go to the folder" sheet enter this file path:
/Users/<YOUR USER NAME>/Library
where <YOUR USER NAME> is your user name, no angle brackets.

Regards,

Jo

Hi Oshyan,

I downloaded and installed the latest update from you all and it appears to longer be happening. Case closed. I'll let you know if I see it again. Don't know what happened. Didn't go through any deletes except for new version install and over write of the existing structure when it asks you to verify if you want to move it in place of the original files.

Thanks again for your patience with me on this. Have a nice rest of your weekend.
Randy....
