Title: planetGenesis 1.8
Post by: David Burnett on September 30, 2007, 11:13:39 AM
I've finally got around to releasing planetGenesis 1.8 with new GUI features, new noises and 16 bit Greyscale SGI output just for you guys :0)

For those of you who are not aware of pG, it's a free, open source, cross platform height field generation tool written in Java 1.5.

The website for pG is http://planetgenesis.sourceforge.net (http://planetgenesis.sourceforge.net)

You can download version 1.8 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50217&package_id=43746&release_id=543208 (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50217&package_id=43746&release_id=543208)

Thank you!  PlanetGenesis was my terrain generation mainstay back in the days of TG 0.9, and I can't wait to explore the new features :).

May be not everything, but there's a lot of overlap and some stuff TG2 does not offer, and as far as noise functions goes though it knocks the current version of TG2 for six :-)
Of course it's only a height field generator so there's no overhangs without TG2's help.
