When using a surface layer, how would one go about creating a surface setup that has a varied height limit? Currently we only have the altitude limit and fuzzy zone, is there a way to make the height varied, by a PF or something?
Sure, just use the white-black transition and warp it in Y. But don't use final.

Thank you! Exactly what I was imagining. Totally forgot about using other surface layers as masks. Had been doing that a lot too.
Cool! Something for my "how to" archive.
Is there a version that would work in final position? Thought about applying this to the 3D flames but does nothing.
Not that I'm aware of, final positions can't be warped, because they're.. final ;)
Very very useful, no more stripes! :)

I always thought of them just final to the worlds position/space, that doesn't inherently imply non-editable, and tools to do so would be fancy, as this is how objects operate.
