Title: Seeing node view connections in the node control windows
Post by: daudvyd on September 25, 2018, 09:57:51 AM
In the node view of the default scene, "Simple shape shader 01" feeds into "Fractal terrain 01" which feeds into "Fractal warp shader 01". The first connection is labelled "mask shader" so I can guess what it's doing. When I open "Fractal terrain 01" I see that "mask by this shader" is indeed assigned by name to the appropriate node. But, the second connection remains a mystery to me. It goes into an input named "Main Input" and when I open the node, I don't see the connection anywhere. What am I missing?

Main Input sort of carries the chain connection of previous nodes. The mask of Fractal Terrain is the simple shape shader (which by default scene is a round polygon flat shape that gives you the big open "ground zero" part of your scene with camera nearby). If you disconnect the simple shape shader , you will see a quite different terrain, depending on feature size, leadin scale, and displacement.
