Title: Directional Slope Masks
Post by: WAS on October 06, 2018, 05:56:23 PM
Here are directional slope masks packaged into internal nodes, and separated by face value.

These are derived from bigben's work here: https://planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,1520.0.html

For example snow blown by the wind onto one side of a mountain. Or mushrooms only growing on one side of a treetrunk.

Wow! Thank you very much. This will be very useful for some scenes I had to discontinue.

Thank you WAS, for sharing this!

I wonder if it´s possible to get other compass directions than North, South, East and West? Is it posssible somehow to limit/set the masks to a specific bearing (like 189 degrees for example)?

Cheers

Robert

PS I´m still hoping and wishing Planetside could make a "compass constraints" tab next to the "slope constraints" in the surface layer, like we discussed in the thread below. It would make these things a lot easier... :P  DS

I'm not sure if that's possible with this setup. I do think it is possible. I bet @Hetzen , @Tangled-Universe , or @mhaze would know. I experiemented with some things but there are things I do not understand how to convert to TG functions.

Just add a rotate Y vector node after the get normal.

Thank you Dune! It works like I want it to. :)

Pity we don't get notifications if we're being tagged by a user.

Yes you can create a directional mask. Here's something I made May last year:

Haha yes...I was afraid this would happen. It's usually quiet here and quick replies are rare.
Of course exceptions occur if you don't want them to happen :P
The '...' are now replaced with a link ;)

Since your reply created a new page people may have become confused, so here it is again, a link to my method for creating a directional mask:
