Tried my hand again at some mountain road. Still very much a WIP. No compute terrain, so rendered in 25mins or so.
I love this. From the thumbnails I thought it was a cliff by the sea. The footprints in the snow are v convincing :o
When I was in Vancouver last year there was a trail leading from Grouse Mountain just like this. The only difference being the slopes were covered with tall dense conifers.
Great work as usual :)
Beautifully Done - there are trails like this in the Dolomites.
He's getting better. I added some more structure on the sloping right, a gully across the track, and Jochen's landrover will be there! And trees.
Done well enough to bring out my (Intense) fear of heights.
;D
Some errors in warping the path and not its snow, though.
Last for today ;)
Gorgeous.
Another great 'Death Road'.
No problem for a Landy, though, hopefully. ;)
Is that other car a 2CV ?
Yes. But I like your landrover MUCH better!
I placed a 3 corner fractal warped SSS across the track to make a gully, then the primitive bridge across it. I hope it's strong enough ;)
This would be cool as train track as well. Might do that.....
Fabulous work as ever Ulco,
The 2cv looks like it's only wide enough for one!
LR110 is much better!
:)
I love it.
A really beautiful image.
What I see so often is that in cars, airplanes or other vehicles nobody sits inside.
I have often camouflaged it by making a reflection in the window or turning the vehicle a little bit, so that a virtuell driver sits behind an angle or shaded window.
But nevertheless, a wonderfull landscape with a great pathway in the mountian (looks really beautifull!)
STORMLORD
I like "Mountain path_13-03-19-low final.jpg" especially.
I actually thought about putting someone inside, or placing someone outside the car, checking on the sturdyness of that bridge, but didn't come to it.
Wow, great render.

doesn't the LandRover come with a driver or did I just put mine in it?...can't check as it's locked in the 'boat anchor'.
I doesn't, but it's easy to pop a simple figure inside.
Another track. Very simple, just the internal grass, a shrub and my heather v2.

heh heh, guess I dropped my "semi driver" model I harvested from a logging truck I found a while back..what, by the way, it the car in this scene...looks vaguely American but also sorta Russian...?

Volga(russian) had a similar model so it could be a Volga.
Actually I added a rudimentary driver in the same thread.
Might be the one Bobby was thinking of.
Mountain Pass High is my personal favorite, that said they all have that Ulco quality that everyone digs.
It's a GAZ (Russian I guess) and it looks like a Volvo PV544, which we owned and drove around quite a while ago.
Ah ha, that's why it's so 'generic...they copied everyone...I have a Gaz that looks exactly like a Fiat and a one that looks like a Cadillac heh heh
These are great renders again, Ulco!
I like the first mountain paths at the cliff and the little bridge most.
Bitt I also impressed by the smoothness of the cars lightbeam in the last renders. Must be a long rendertime with hight atmo-quality and high AA, right?
Not at all, actually. AA6, 10m localized very thin cloud at quality 1.
Trying another setup.
POV is good. I like especially the rocks in this WIP.
Can't wait to see it "all dressed up"
Whew! Nice inset, not quite so mountain goat tracking, haha. Great project! :)
Update
Awesome!
I don't think I would have the balls to try that bridge tho :o

...same for me ;D
Very cool!
Is that a "Knorr-soup" truck? From far it looks a bit like that. :)

Oh boy!! Me neither! Awesome!
Wow...and I get the memorial cross, betcha a number have had scary moments on that road.
Actually, the cross is a roadsign.
Updated with a few different seeds on the rockface...

trust me to assume the worst...life is tough for Scorpios LOL
Great works to see, well done my friend!
Ulco, you scare me.
Time for new upholstery in that rig.
Nice work
Great stuff, I wouldn't cross that bridge!
I am already curious what will be to the right side in the valley :)
There is no right side (but it could be added). Haven't looked at the advertisment on the truck yet, Nils.
Another version.
Good POV.
I like the road sunk into the rocks like that. I'd feel way better traveling on that heh heh...
