Title: Importing self made characters to Terragen ?
Post by: Jgone on April 14, 2019, 02:32:18 PM
Hello people.

I've had a year long break from Terragen. I have been learning how to create characters in zbrush. So far i have achieved making characters that were used in unreal/unity games.
I would like to say that i have a strong understanding about the character creation worklow. But, as the title suggests.. How does one go about importing characters to a terragen scene ?

I know how to import .obj files, but connecting normal/metallic/albedo/cavity etc maps seems borderline impossible to figure out without any documentation.  ???

Is there a tutorial i should take a look ? I would love to create scenes in terragen that has my own characters / models in it.

Thanks in advance. Please ask questions if i'm being unclear ! :)

Here is a very basic write up to start with:

Double click on the plus sign that you can see on the right side of the node of the model. Then do the same with the Parts shader node. Then choose the correct part shader you want to texture and double click on that. A new window will open up. You can load the color texture under the Color tab. Then load the displacement texture under the Displacement tab. I think TG is not using well the normal maps(I could be wrong with this statement) here so try another displacement texture here.

Hello, this thread is one of the most helpful when it comes to pbr-workflow in TG.

I think that should get you closer to what you need.
