Title: Steam locomotive trailing smoke

Any ideas on the best way to make locomotive and steamboat smoke? I've read through some older threads here about metaclouds, and think that might be the solution. But I haven't seen much discussion about them lately and wonder if the idea has fallen by the wayside or has been superseded by other techniques. Are there other ways to do this?

Thanks, Oshyan. I will now. I have to admit that I'd have never thought to search for "fumarole." Not a word I use every day!

I didn't search for "fumarole" either. ;) I remembered (I think) that someone had made a rocket exhaust/trail setup in the past so I searched for that and the fumarole topic came up pretty high up the list.
