Seems to be free? That's a serious step up from Crazybump. Only other alternative I knew of was AwesomeBump which is powerful but needlessly complicated and doesn't auto-generate each type of map you need.

There's also Shadermap which has a free version. https://shadermap.com/home/

Not a bad price on full version either, however I gotta say the tech behind them is pretty simple, and been around free for decades so I wonder what these programs bring that's really worth it. For example half of Shader Maps features seem to revolve around performance, which puzzles me since I've been generating these maps since I was on 128mb of ram and a PIII lol

Has anyone tried this software (Materialize). I downloaded it cause I read it's good with "PBR" whatever that really means.

But... I can't save a project let alone any maps! It just says "Select" instead of "Save" or something, and when you try to write a project name or map name, nothing saves at all... I think their file explorer is stuck in "Open" mode.

Amazing they have no contact on their website, and only a feedback in their software, which won't let me send anything with "Oops, something went wrong". :\

I think I may have spent like 45 minutes in this software for nothing. :(

Figured it out! Don't hit Select. Right the filename and hit enter on the input field. Weeird.

Turns out materialize is better that I thought it would be.  Along with the main Materialize download I had to follow this link (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 ) and install 2 of the 3 packages found there.  Not sure how applicable this would be to Terragen, but it works beautifully with the stuff I'm doing in Blender 2.8.

That's very good to know. If I follow that link there's one package (I don't see three), so where is the other one?
I use Pixplant atm, but maybe this would be a good alternative, once.

Dune, did you open the "Details" tab on the "Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013" page (click on the plus sign next to it)?
Once you download you`ll be prompted to choose which of the three available versions you want.

follow this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

Takes you to download page.  Click the download button and you'll be presented option to download 3 flavors of vcredistxxxx.exe . I downloaded them all and 2 installed as soon as I clicked them. I don't think the 3rd was compatible with my system.  Afterward, Materialize worked great. I've been using it this evening to generate new PBR files for use with Blender's Principled BSDF shader.  What I've seen so far is that the realism aspect is very, very good!

No, I didn't. Thanks. I'll download, just in case I ever need it.

EDIT. There's no free version mentioned, but you can download a version right away. Does that version add a watermark?
