Title: AA in 4.4.60 Frontier
Post by: WAS on April 19, 2020, 04:12:21 PM
Is it just me or is the antialiasing in 4.4.60 really jagged? The edges are excessively blocky at AA3, which used to be a pretty good testing point for detail. Some areas gradient well, and than others are just a hard edge, and like MS Paint line tool or no AA line tool in PS.

HUh, seems to be when haze is in the picture, but haven't seen this so blocky.

The dark ridge in the valley: I believe this is normal for low AA. It samples at steps larger than a pixel if the contrast is less than the pixel noise threshold.
The bright sun: I think this is what happens with "anti-aliasing bloom" when "bloom" is disabled, but it does look a bit extreme here.

When you compare with an older version, has anything changed?

I'd have to install an earlier version. Off the top of my head I don't remember there being such hard drops like a hard line tool, but here may have been since I don't often add such intense haze with low lighting.
