The idea is stolen from a pic I found on the web.
Some postwork with Luminance HDR.

Great point of view, looks prehistoric!
Yes, like a never discovered gorge. It's quite dramatic. I wonder what would happen if you take the attention from the sky. Maybe replace it by a dark cloudy sky, and have some subtle light on the distant mountain. Or cover the top in a bit of haze, so the prime attention goes to the palmy area.
Brilliant image...made my day today
Nice "hidden world" type of thing. Good work.
Great idea and render!
Thank you all for your comments.
Here is another version taking into account Dunes recommendation.

I like that better!
Kind of surreal! Cool image.
Did you try to check "receive shadows from surfaces" in the cloud's quality tab, to get some shadows in the mist? Might be worth a try.
Strange - I like the contrasts.

thx, Hannes.
"receive shadows from surfaces" is already on. You can seen the effect in the fog under the palms, but it is not very pronounced.
What a change! Cool!
I'd suggest some small plants on the mossy stones but all in all a big improvement!

Ah, yes, I see. I didn't look close enough.
The final version:
I tried a new aspect ratio and included some plants as suggested by DocCharly, thx for that.

That does it, great.
You really made it into "something". Great detail on the left rock. Well done.
Oh yeah! That does it! I like it very much!
