Title: Error when adding terrain
Post by: Jacob on April 26, 2020, 08:53:42 PM
Hi guys.

I have a few .ter files on my computer which I think are terrains but every time I try to upload it, it tells me this is not a Terregan terrain file.

I'm not sure what to do to make this load but I've tried other software to open this but it seems they all support Terregan. I've tried opening in a note pad but it just comes up with symbols and whatnot, as you would've probably expected.

If anyone would be able to help me then that would be great! (If you know what type of ".ter" file this is & software that would open, even better!)

I've attached said file below.

These apparent terrain files are from a game I used to play & It would be good fun to get them open and use them to decorate on. I guess you could say it's just my nostalgia kicking in.

Thanks!

I don't think that's the same format Terragen uses in Black and White and other old games.

Even forcing the format to TIFF using Terragen's terrain reader in reaConverter produces nonsense.

Agree.

And maybe this thread could be moved to the appropriate section
(like the other one:
https://planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,27788.0.html ),

since this is the file sharing area. It may be a bit confusing...

Could it possibly be a Torque Game Engine terrain file?
