Title: First Attempt
Post by: Brennan.Meinke on May 21, 2020, 05:10:57 PM
This is my first "finished" image from Terragen 4. Have never had a PC capable of running it capably, but one coming soon to help me pass the time in quarantine. Couldn't wait to get started, so started playing around on the old laptop--a 2015 i5 with 8 gigs of slow ram, and Intel integrated graphics. Took a LONG time to render even this small image. Nothing fancy, but fun to learn and play around.

Welcome to TG.

For shorter render times, try working without the compute terrain node. I know it's 'standard' in the line, but not always necessary. Just experiment what it does for you, see if you notice differences when rendering without it.

I like the work on the mountain colours - looks pretty.

Only recently have I started to do it this way, but I can attest that it is faster. I do, however, keep a loose compute node for populations. Not sure if it adds to the render time or not...?

It doesn't, but indeed, you better leave it hooked on, but with a 'loose end' for pops.
