Title: Occasional Invisible Object
Post by: WAS on June 07, 2020, 04:27:02 PM
Lately I've been getting some strange shadows, that I thought were just angles of the sun, but now I have a instance where I can see clearly, there is just a pop instance that isn't visible, but it's shadow is.

In the pops it's not as noticeable, but you can still see erroneous shadows.

There are many instances that have their shadow in wrong places.
Take a look from a little above. It might be from an object that is actually not where it looks in the image.
Some are over the ground for example.

They aren't actually floating. That's just wrong shadows. I had to use a Compute Normal (again) because the Compute Terrain yielded floating pop above the terrain in the sky (really getting tired of whatever that bug is)

If they are floating, there is a serious population issue with Compute Terrain and Compute Normal ever since he made it a internal function. I'll render a close-up from the base of the bluff.

Oops, Kadri helped me realize what it was. Compute Normals were set, but my second and third pop had no planet anchors (still not sure how those unhook). The bounding boxes were there on the terrain, but the pop was a mess in the actual render.
