Beautiful shot Jo. The atmosphere looks very lively, reminds me of the "Homeworld" franchise. :)

What do the light sources in the lower atmosphere represent?

It seems to me like Doomsday: Atomic explosions seen from space...

The light sources may look like explosions, but that was not my intention. I've been having fun using light sources in Terragen for a long time to get some mysterious lighting. In the Planet x series I even use (high intensity) light sources several times to replace suns. These sources were often very close to the ground to imitate a setting sun. By making a bad manipulation the camera ended up in high altitude and I saw that the effect was interesting. After several tests I made this rendering.

That, indeed, was my first thought as well.

But that could actually have a great potential in combination with Hetzen's push-pull setup - clouds being pushed away by the power of a nuclear explosion. Interesting in terms of an art "proof-of-concept", though of course, a very ominous and depressingly sad thought on its own...

Rather taken with # 2.  Great contrast between huge mountains and tiny (relatively) Winnebago.  You sort of get the feel that it has to be one very determined vehicle to scale those mountains.

always curious what you will eventually submit. Your WIP's have always been an array of images. Good to see you working in TG

Looks like you have changed the concept! Number 3 would be my choice. Number 9 has a rather strange shading to be perfectly honest.

I'd go for no.8. With some extra work on the foreground.

Thanks Barefoots.

@N-drju, Honestly I don't really have a concept but more a series of ideas that I'm trying to elevate above draft brain storming. I have less motivation than in the past to finish them but enough to try. I recently tried to improve image 3 but by fixing a strange problem of shadow in the snow the cliff face has lost interest.

@Dune, I'll try to enhance image 8. I have Sunday off, but that doesn't give me much time.
Otherwise I'm still interested in picture 5 or it will be picture 8 as it is.

8 and 5 are my favourites too. Both great images. Just a bit of planting on the nearer hills?

I think No 8 is transporting the idea of "Travelers" perfectly.
Like Masonspappy wrote the huge mountainrange and the tiny motorhome go together very well.
That`s a long journey they are on. Not just your average 2 week vacation.
This picture is telling a story about adventure, learning, dedication, companionship.
To me No 5 is not really up to the level quality of the 2nd series of pictures.
In comparison:
My impression is more a kind of being left behind, lonely. The sailing ship is leaving rather than arriving.

If I have it right thinking of renders you posted your talent seems to be right at home with these large
mountainranges spanning across the whole field of view. But who am I to judge :P.

Which ever render you choose - Good luck!
CHeers, Klaus

KlausK your comment is clear and highly appreciated. Unfortunately I don't have time to improve the n.8 image but I chose it for the contest anyway. Thanks again for taking the time to say what you think.

Agree with others about the sense of scale and majesty here. Glad I am not judging this contest, there are so many outstanding entries. Good luck with this.

A majestic image with an awesome scale! An old friend of mine who taught in Japan for a number of years told me of an extremely popular Japanese Beer commercial; it involved the famous Japanese film star Toshiro Mifune, pulled up in a Winnebago RV at the base of the Eastern side of Mt Whitney (14k +), he steps out and opens his beer and drinks up followed by a long sigh of pleasure while looking up at the mountains. Just that. Your image has that same captivating quality. Good Luck!

Just for fun!
Another idea I had on the theme TRAVELERS was to approach the subject as a metaphor. A seed of a plant found on the top of a mountain and having managed to take root very far from its country of origin.
The starry sky in the second image is from WAS (Cosmic Background (Stars and Galaxy) (2019 Night Sky)

Like your variant idea.

Your main entry is excellent. Love the composition and the scale comparison. Gives a good grounding to the scene and a sense of realism.

Yeah, these are very good and different from 'usual'. Travelers can indeed encompas a lot. But how open are judges for the subtle?

Jo, that's an ingenious idea - I love that plant metaphor!

And the way the flower seems to gaze into outer space, thinking about new places to colonize? A truly poetic and bold vision. :)

Agree, its a great story and images. It's tough to decide what to focus on with such an open brief. I think you chose right in the end.

I, in no way think that your creativity was ever stifled. All images are contest worthy and just when we are in love with the camper's view, you subtly gives us a natural viewpoint. Just wonderful images and best of luck.  :)

That's one of my personal favorite. The sense of scale, loneliness and awe make it a truly inspiring picture. Well done.

Thanks Ulco!
It is difficult to know from the judges' backgrounds with films such as TRANSFORMERS, SUPERMAN, TRON LEGACY, BLOODSHOT etc. whether they would be interested in a simple flower on a mountain to express the subject TRAVELLERS.
I believe, as say Hetzen, that I nevertheless made a good choice of the image I presented. The image is self-explanatory.

Great ideas Jo! I also had a VERY similar idea after i decide to participate in the contest. the idea was simple: a small green sprout, in an obvious alien planet. that's all, there you have your 'traveler'. the image it would be still subtle, but self explanatory. Of course i decided due lack of time go with the already started campfire scene. I gonna try this one just for fun...
