As already mentioned several times: Experiment with Terragen, play with it! Then you will not need to ask such questions anymore. I got to know Terragen best by trial and error. What does this button do, what do I do with this slider etc...
Later you can also deal with different tutorials if you wish.
Start with a sample project that you find in the library and play around with it. This is how I started.
Each Terragen Tab also leads you to a question mark "?" on the right hand side, which redirects you to a reference page that can give you several explanations.
These explanations are not always up to date and not always complete ("work in progress") but they can give good clues and save you some questions.
