Title: Mac alternative to Gaea (free version if possible)
Post by: Balletdude on August 20, 2021, 09:50:13 AM
I've been looking at some of the wonderful images created with Terragen and Gaea. Unfortunately it's not available for Mac. Other than using the landscape generating functions in Blender, can anyone recommend or suggest alternatives for mac?

Also thought Mac version was coming "soon" a couple of years ago now for Gaea. That's unfortunate. I wonder why, if it's using Unity and just a matter of building it for Mac. Most be some external stuff.

Thank you I will take a look. Was also thinking of Unreal Engine, as they have a free version for non commercial use, but do you know if it can generate heigh maps?

I don't think it can generate heightmaps. You can load heightmaps, or paint them. There is no erosion and stuff that I am aware of.
