A total of ten cloud layers. Six V3 cloud layers for clouds and four V2 cloud layers for effects. It took quite a while to make the clouds look how I wanted them.
The Discovery model is a free one from Sketchfab.
First I had a huge UFO (again... ::) ) in the clouds, but I decided to use something else.
Wonderful work. You wouldn't say there were so many cloud layers. I also like the haze around the machine, and the condensation lines.
Thanks, Ulco! I used so many cloud layers to have more control over the "composition". It started with an image I saw on CG Talk with a space jet flying over an impressive cloudscape:

I'm not sure, whether these clouds are CG as well or just a photo backdrop. I'd guess the latter.
However, this was the inspiration for my image. I wanted to achieve a similar look.
That's a great render/comp as well. Can't say if it's CGI, but the clouds are pretty cool. You achieved similarity, no doubt!
The lighting is awesome!
That is beautiful!
Beautifull !!!! :)
Impressive!
Thank you, guys! :)
Great image. How did you manage the blend between cloud layers, I always get a hard edge where one layer meets another.
Thanks Richard! Actually there were no problems with cloud seams. The big ones are all V3.
Those clouds are fantastic! Very realistic view.
Nailed it, the clouds are killer.
Superb Clouds !
Nice image. Looks real.
