Title: Add a background image
Post by: kepler on January 04, 2007, 03:19:15 PM
Hello,
I have created a starfield image (a JPEG) with Photoshop and then this scene with TG2TP (in attachment). Can you tell me what should I do to have the starfield behind the two asteroids?  :P
If possible, it would be great to have the .tgd file ;)

something like this?.... this is using the lighten function on layer control in painshop pro 8.. though it can as easily be done in photoshop, etc

the real question here is... will images rendered out of TG2 have an intergrated Alpha channel. Can you put things on Layers in TG2 so that say the atmosphere is NOT part of the alpha, etc.

Simply using the 'lighten' filter in PS (or similar) is unsatisfactory because the shadowed side of the asteroid should block the stars.

You can use a background image in TG: On the objects pane, go to the "Background" object, then the "Surface Shaders" tab, and add an Image map shader. You may need to play with the settings to make it show up well, as it tends to do funky things...
