I took liberty to take some screen caps from the most beautiful movie (set location wise) "Stardust" and also from the movie "Resident Evil: Extinction"
luckily I have access to a bluray and Hd-dvd drive, so I was able to capture some HD shots.
I have done maximum compression on these so I could fit them in here, there are more and higher quality shots in the zip file; link to which is below...
some of the shots from the Resident Evil movie have motion blur and you know the obvious reason....
hope somebody can recreate at least one of these.....

Thanks, DH! I thought of TG while watching Stardust. I wonder if it was used in this movie?
no these are all natural landscapes....the film was shot mostly in Scotland!
Ah, Stardust - that's arguably one my most favorite movies ever. The balance in the movie was great, and beats out most of the fantasy stuff out there in terms of, well, everything.
Dose any one know what species of plant is (The small brownish ones) that are is the mid and foreground of the second image from the top and dose any one with Xfrog have any models they'd care to share: I am also looking for Desert saltbush (Atriplex polycarpa ), Blackbush (Coleogyne ramosissima) and Creosote Bush (Larrea tridentata) these will be sutible for mid to foreground image work I would be grateful for any assistance here.
Regards to you.

yea I think we may have a shot at recreating one of these....
Another movie that looked a lot like it was made from terragen was Eragon. I watched the other day after playing with TG for a few days, and I kept thinking, "I could do that". Of course when I tried I couldn't but I think it is possible.
Get some shots from planetearth too, those had some great ones.
I mean please get some shots from planet earth too, those had some great ones. :)

Ugh... *shudder*. Not to go too off topic, but no amount of beautiful scenery could get me to watch that movie again.
lol

I couldn't agree with you more. The movie was horrible, but it was 3am, and I couldn't find anything else on.
yea that movie sucked....and the worst thing is that it is a 3 movie contract!
Eragon started from a plagiaristic writer called a child genius with parents who own a publishing house. He doesn't deserve the attention from a query letter, never mind getting a three movie contract deal.
Vomit.

is he? Some would call that entrepreneurship.... ug who are we kidding?
;D
I'm not bitter.
I have spent ages (and I really mean ages (years)) trying to replicate the type of horizontal displacement seen in the rocks in image 21. if amyone has a workflow to get even halfway there, I'd like to see it.
Glenn
eroded terraces maybe.
