Download

without installer and autorun (just packed)

http://www.mediafire.com/?xgcu01vxbpa (http://www.mediafire.com/?xgcu01vxbpa)

this pack is a little different from my other packs
i am testing out my new autorun installation system i am planning to use when floraworks finally starts selling. so when you extract the archive just click the auto run program.
remember to read the pdf before you use the model ;)
This grass integrates nicely with my other released grasses as well as klases and zstars ;)
p.s
SPECIAL thanks goes Zstar for his excellent grass texturing technique
you can see here

wow looks amazing.  might have to switch up the grass i'm using in my current wip for the next render ;).

the auto installer is nice, but i kinda prefer just copy/paste of tgo's into my custom directories on my external where i keep them.  also you installer doesn't install the pdf into the folder, which would be nice to help keep track of files.  just a suggestion for the next installer.

Looks good, Lightning.  You managed to get the seed heads to show up better than I did.  I'm glad to contribute to the community and thanks for the acknowledgment.   :)   Good luck with Floraworks!

How could you make the best grass yet, when you already have the best grass yet?   ;D

Thanks.  I look forward to trying this.

hey Jack
thanks for the generous gift yet again.

The installer is very professional looking and works beautifully. One thing - the music. If I'm playing music while I work, I really don't want an installer to suddenly bust in with those chimes. I don't think annoying your customers is going to help, so 10/10, five stars for everything else, but lose the music maybe?

I dunno, I don't mind the installer, its just simplicity wise its so easy for me to just open a zip or rar and grab the files out and put in my folder, i see installers as installing programs, not just packs of models.  might cause some minor confusion to some people perhaps.

As for the music i'd probably suggest not to have it, the graphics are nice though.  I had my computer muted so i didn't realize there was music going on in it.

Also, one other thing.  Personally im ok with rar and everything, but i know windows doesn't have rar support by default only zip.  I don't see how people live without rar support these days personally, but i was reminded that some people don't understand them when my dad had a rar sent to him and was completely confused about what to do with it.  Probably not as big of a problem among people using models though.  I don't know the compression differences between zip and rar offhand, but if its not that big i'd suggest probably using zip, but if it is, just go rar.

In  one post I noticed "customers". Are you eventually going to begin charging for your vegetation?

Nice, but the installer does not change the model path, even if I specified another location.

Unfortunately the installer doesn't work on Mac - could you possibly share the files as normal for those of us who can't run an exe?

Your files refer to directories in your own personal documents folder. That's something you should be able to avoid, when creating your models, by putting your textures into the same folder as (or a subfolder of) your model directory before you load the model into Terragen. When you first load images into Terragen it looks to see if they are in the same folder or subfolder of the object reader which contains them (i.e. in whose internal network the image map shaders are), and if they are it will turn the file references into relative file paths, rather than absolute. If Terragen can't turn them into relative paths, it has to store absolute paths instead. It does not try to change your file paths when you save your object, but it will turn them into relative paths while you are setting up your object if you have things structured in a way that allows relative paths.

Even if you've got absolute paths stored in your image map shaders, you can always edit them by hand to just contain the filename (assuming you've allowed Terragen to find them by putting them in the same folder as the object). You shouldn't rely on Terragen to assume that you want it to look for the files somewhere other than where you told it to.

EDIT: You could add your maps directories to the path list in Preferences, so that they will continue to work for you even after you have edited them for proper distribution to other users.

Thanks for sharing. This is awesome !!

Just played around with it and came up with this render.
Somehow the grass looks very bright where it should be dark. As the sun is in front of the camera the dark area of the grass should face the camera, shouldn't it. Did I miss something? I checked the paths of the textures and I tried to set the leaf's "alpha from color" to 1 (white) in the Opacity tab of it's default shader.
In the quick-render it looks fine and rendered correctly. The full render always shows "bright" grass.
Any idea?

the translucency is to high ruduce it by adusting the slider under the colour shader in the default shader set it to 0 or very low
nice image by the way ;)

Any models from lightning are gone due to the whole issues with that.  They were stolen models modified in pirated software and such.

What is the point of this thread  being displayed, after all the file in question is none existent. So let the subject expire, who needs the confusion of "It was a good old grass, but it's gone!."

Maybe better check the most recent replies first before jumping on a download link?

Andy I for one don't have a need to get on any download link to get lightning's now illicite file, and I think everyone currently knows the facts about this whole Xfrog controversy well enough to let any supposed linkage/connections alone. Am I missing some subtlety of this subject or does the ongoing status of lightning's missing grass file really matter to this forum membership?

I think this story is more like William Tell who ends up having to shoot the apple off his own head!. We in this forum can only fill the gap of plantlife left by Lightning's fall from grace by facing the reality of what and where the available flora is TODAY, and going to those locations and sources in our TG2 oriented cyber world.

The models weren't stolen.  Lightning owned everything he was working on, but it was the educational version.  Then, what he did is highly modified some of the xFrog trees and brought those into his own creations.  It was like a third-generation model that was mostly his own work.  The stickler to this was that the little percentage that wasn't his work wasn't why we liked Lightning's work.

Before Lightning, we had nothing.  Klas and a couple of others since are the only people who have come close to the quality and care Lightning put into his work. [Edit] And thankfully we now have the models from Walli, which are very good from what I've heard. [/Edit]

So Lightning didn't PIRATE anything.  The xFrog license is such that no modification is allowed, even if it's only a small part of your own model.  I think it's a ridiculous "rule" and calls into question what it means when we buy something from someone.  Is it ours?  Or not?

That was/is my understanding at least as far as the better quality models were concerned.   In light of that I have been in contact with Greenworks during my Xfrog trial period to make sure I kept myself legal.  I am not taking sides or wanting to cause or perpetuate arguments, I just wanted to cover myself.  The whole area of copyright, derivative works and intellectual property is a nightmare

If you think that is complicated look at this:
