Title: Cloud movement via transform shader
Post by: Kevin Kipper on August 10, 2008, 02:52:54 AM
Hello All,

I'm not seeing a layer of clouds move at all when I apply a transform shader as I've read about on this forum so I'm obviously doing something incorrect.  Can you please set me straight?

Here's what I've done so far:
1. Added a Cumulus (3d/Volumetric) layer
2. Assigned a Transform Shader to the Cumulus layer > Main > Density shader
3. Set keys on the Transform shader's Translate and Scale inputs at frame 1 to be 0,0,0 and frame 100 to be 100,100,100
4. Render various frames or scrub thru the animation but nothing about the clouds change.

The flow chart shows the output of the Density Fractal feeding the input of the Transform Shader and the output of the Transfor Shader feeding the input of the Cumulus cloud layer.

Thanks for your help.

Kevin

It should work as you have built it but I would put in higher values for the transform, at the moment your only moving the clouds a hundred meters which may not show up at distance.
Just to be clear the transform shader goes between the density shader and the cloud shader.

(Ah I think I've just seen your mistake. The density shader goes in the transform shaders shader input on the right )

Thanks Cyphyr!

That was it!  Thanks for the image as well, a picture is worth a 1000 words!
