Title: Heavy duty 3d-trees
Post by: Xpleet on August 28, 2008, 01:48:20 AM
I usually don't like this type of "advertising" but in this case i may.

http://www.evermotion.org/shop_display_item.php?item=306 Check out these heavy duty trees.

I downloaded the free sample and it's 1.2million polygons, over in 100mb in .obj format.

They actually have some real depth in them unlike Xfrog trees for example.
Each little least branch is modeled out.

This should be the approaching standard for 3D trees.

I suspect they are made with Xfrog, what's a better program than that :P.

I just got Xfrog 4.3 for my Cinema4D so it's already within a userfriendly interface i know :P

I'm planning to model my own trees with Xfrog plugin, they're supposed to have more detail and more depth, and smaller realistic leafs than Xfrogplants, any tips?  :)

No tips from me (I haven't played with Xfrog much), but I hope that you'll be able to share whatever you come up with, either in the forms of models or just images.

Sure,

I share everything I make for free even if it turns out to be top quality,

Posting all my stuff on http://rocky1990.deviantart.com/

But I'm not into terragen-specific stuff atleast not yet.

these trees look amazing, though the free sample is not the best at close range, as mentioned elsewhere in the forum!!

Those are very impressive.

I've tried XFrog. It's cool and very cool the way you can use it for lots of organic forms not just realistic trees or plants. The thing that always put me off was the cost. It's quite expensive considering what it does.

If xfrog 4.0 standalone should ever arrive, I'll buy it ;)
I've tried to send greenworks some mails about this and some other things, but they never answer me :(
