Title: Unsharpening/Blurring - Vegetation
Post by: choronr on December 14, 2008, 02:59:10 PM
I wonder if there is a way to unsharpen/blur plant models (in populations), especially in distant scenes for a more natural appearance.  If anyone has any ideas on this I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't think un-sharpening will do the trick, there's relatively little distortion or loss of detail with distance in most cases. Try just de-saturating the colours in your shaders with distance. The further away an object is the more less saturated the colours become. Hope this helps

Thanks cyphyr for your information. I will be trying this on the image in progress; I appreciate it.

I would also suggest trying one of the alternate antialiasing blend filters as some of them can provide a softer, more natural result.
