No, we didn't figure it out at all. The actor staggered off of to the side of the stage, but I assumed that it was their way of having him die: the production involved the actors never actually leaving the stage to the side. The show went on without incident, and the first hint that something was wrong was when the actor didn't show up for his bow.
Wow. What a trooper. Slash and dash. Hope the person responsible is found.
I envy you being in Vienna, what a great city. As for this story, it sounds like a crime show episode, only this time it's real. At least the actor lived (and came back to work the next day!).
