Title: Artifacts in render...
Post by: lemonnado on January 22, 2007, 09:46:08 AM
Often I see a 'shadow' in my renders. A 'shadow' which is like a mask lying on the landscape. Not from clouds or anything else. Just a mask with sharp border.
Any idea where those artifacts come from?

I believe you are being stalked by a mask-monster

Could you attach an example picture and tgd-file.

Else I am only guessing what you mean.

What I see is part of the terrain.

It looks like you ar using a fractal procedural terrain.

I have seen the 'lines' very often in terrains with 'lack' of detail.

Try some settings in the 'Terrain'-Group, Heightfieldshader, Tab 'Fractal Detail'.
The values 'Fractal Amount' and 'Fractal Variation' sound interesting.

Thanks for the hint! I'll work on those parameters.
It's not an application where one can tweak easily with quick feedback 8).
