First of all let me say congrats on the Planetside developers to make a trust-worthy forum to all Terragen users! Very nice job!
Now for my topic.
Oliver Cousinou did a realistic snow render in TG2 while in alpha/beta phase.
The link to the render is http://olivier.cousinou.free.fr/TGD/Images/Gravel-snow.jpg
And it would be appreciated that if someone knows how to do surface layers like that,
Thanks.
the secret are displacements
I read somewhere that that image (or his other similar one) will be the basis of a tutorial or a sample file or something - cant quite remember which.
We will be providing a sample file that illustrates some of these techniques. An announcement will be made here on the forums.

That would be really great yeah :)
For everyone who can't wait, Smoggy started a topic about this at Ashundar which may be very useful:

Nice find, Tangled-Universe. I'll keep that bookmarked.
Haha YES
I knew it was displacements. . . I made some snow a little (tiny bit) like that and shouted for joy.

Yap, very nice effect! Thanks for your efforts!
Sweet. Thanks. ;D
This is the beauty of T2 right here. The lack of restraint. To properly use the software and make snow like this, the following must be done:
Remember that no longer is the world, surfaces, and terrain seperate entities.
Remember that the terrain "group" isn't the only place terrain can change shape.
Remember that displacement is more then just overhang.
T2 has effective changed the way we think about building a scene, that's what makes it so great.
