Title: Puddle
Post by: A4size on October 24, 2009, 12:37:02 AM
Is now under construction

Quality Level:1 Anti-aliasing:8 Rendering time:17 hours(CPU i7 920@3.5Ghz OC)
How about that?

Nice POV... I would say the wave scaling is far to big for a "Puddle", try flattening the water out a bit and maybe add some displacement to the stones to get rid of the straight edges. Also what are the small white dots?
Cheers, Simon.

Thanks for the Information.

The white point whitens it for coloration confirmation.

LittleCannon is right about the wave size. Everything else looks great. I have to admit being jealous of the render time. :P

Agree with everyone.  I like the lighting and think you could work on the stones a little.  There are a lot of good textures for fake stones in the File Sharing section.

I must be getting old. I thought the topic said poodle. I was looking for a dog. LOL.
Very awesome image.

Great! How do you get this realistic look? special render settings (GI, Contrast or what?). I allways try this realistic look, but in my pictures it doesn't work .... :'(

the first is more of a rock-pool, the white spots on the stones could almost be barnacles, the second is nice too....good work!

You have done a very good job here. Try turning down the highlight size and spread of the water shader. The glare hides your good work.

Lol, I can't believe that the forum mistook the CPU info for an email address! :D

The reflection and the penetration of Default shader are used.

IMO the displacement (1.3) doesn't do a thing if you don't attach an image or fractal...

very nice, though again, reduce the wave scale/roughness of the water...this would add to the realism!

Very nice work!
Great atmospherices and lighting :)

I only have 2 suggestions now at the moment + one minor:

The specularity is a bit disturbing IMO, I'd reduce the reflectivity and increase the roughness to soften en spread it out a bit more. I'd certainly reduce it, it's too strong for these kind of lighting conditions I think.

The wave scales of the water are rather large. The atmosphere of the image almost "requires" dead calm water, at least with very tiny waves.

Minor suggestion is to increase the atmo-samples in your final render to remove more grain (you can see it in the atmo itself a bit, but mostly in the objects).
I guess you used something like 100 samples already?

Keep up the great work!

Cheers,
Martin

That looks fantastic! The only thing that could be improved (imho) is the roughness of the water. It looks like a stream. Apart from that it's beautiful!

They are each beautiful, and your work is impressive.  Love this last one.  Excellent lighting!  Linda

The last one is very very good!

80% finished you said :) I hope the last 20% will be:

10% for reducing the water scales and roughness (I would make it near flat)
10% for strongly reducing the highlights and increasing the spread to make it more softer.

Great work so far!

Martin

Looking great though - the foliage is superb - as is the lighting - keep going :)
