Holy cow! I am buying the DVD just for that sequence! :o
Here I thought Urban Renewal had been tough on the US cities. (It ruined downtown Binghamton)

Yeah, the effects work is good, but it still just looks ridiculous. I thought the ice chasing people down a hallway in Day After Tomorrow was over the top, but this takes it to a new level. Oh, the earthquake crack just happens to be following their car, *and* then their plane! Haha. I mean the problem here isn't shoddy VFX work, it's just incredibly contrived story making and directing. Oh well, I'll see it in theaters anyway, just to see the world go up in flames. ;)

Yes. I can see it already , every good  movie critic saying how bad it is (and would  be right i think) but the movie taking over 100 million in a week :)
The bad think is i will see it too. I love such vfx . But unfortunately such vhx and good movies are not together usually :(

I am more interested in the technical aspects of doing this stuff. Sky Captain almost did a great job explaining how to do this CG, for a DVD anyway.

Njeneb, there was a link i searched in my bookmarks for you , but i could not find it yesterday :(
Many free tutorials about  crowd generation , bluescreen , greenscreen and such.
If you search you can find many (i know you know this of course) but these were very good ones.
If i can find them i will post them here.
Maybe you have seen them :)

Edit : Not what i searched but these are not bad . More for AE , but in general the approach  are the same in other softwares  http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/all/

Thanks again. It's land surveying! :o (well trig) Would work well if there was camera aperture and focus information for the T2 camera.
